New Single “Precious Life”

After more than two decades of evolution between synth-pop, guitar-infiltrated industrial and dark electronic music, WIV enter a new chapter with “Precious Life”, the opening single from their forthcoming second EP, “Terra”, the sixth chapter in their Elements hexalogy.

Released on Bandcamp on 26 August 2026 and across digital streaming platforms on 11 September 2026, “Precious Life” marks a significant turning point for WIV. It is the band’s first release featuring Japanese-born vocalist Chiho, following the band’s move from its original home in Germany, to London, UK. WIV have spent more than 23 years evolving without being confined to a single sound. The move to London and the arrival of Chiho continue that tradition of transformation, bringing a new voice and a new cultural perspective to the band’s dark electronic world.

“Precious Life” confronts one of the simplest and most uncomfortable truths of human existence: every life begins, and every life ends. Between those two points, humanity continues to draw lines between people creating division, exclusion and prejudice that history repeatedly proves capable of turning into something far darker. Rather than offering easy answers, WIV frame that contradiction through a restrained and atmospheric electronic sound. Produced by Sebastian Robitzsch, “Precious Life” moves at a deliberate mid-tempo pace, combining spherical textures with minimalistic, melodic synthesiser lines. Against this backdrop, Chiho’s expressive vocal performance becomes the emotional centre of the track, carrying its message about equality, division and the fragile value of human life.

The track marks both a continuation and a departure for WIV. Their catalogue, spanning five albums, two EPs and three singles, reflects a band shaped by constant evolution. Guitars have entered and left the equation, vocal approaches have changed, and electronic influences have shifted, but the underlying drive has remained the same: to create music with purpose rather than simply follow a formula.

With “Elements”, WIV are building a six-part body of work around the elemental forces that shape both the world and the human experience. “Terra”, the second EP in the series after “Aqua”, turns its focus towards the ground beneath us and the people who share it. In a time defined by division, “Precious Life” asks a deceptively simple question: what happens when we forget that every life begins and ends in exactly the same way?

For WIV, the answer begins with listening and feeling the meaning.

WIV. open(s) your mind.
